Contactless payments use short-range wireless technology to securely complete payments between a contactless card or payment-enabled device and a contactless-enabled checkout terminal. A contactless Visa card is a chip card that has a near-field communication (NFC) antenna which enables close-range payments. When you tap your contactless Visa card or payment-enabled device at the contactless-enabled checkout terminal (near the Contactless Symbol
), your payment is sent for authorization.

When shown on a card, the EMVCo Contactless Indicator*
means the card has the capability to make contactless payments.
When shown at a merchant, the Contactless Indicator
means a merchant accepts contactless payments.
The EMVCo Contactless Symbol*
shows where to tap your contactless card or payment-enabled device on the checkout terminal to make a contactless payment.

Look for the Contactless Indicator
on your card to know if your card has the technology to make contactless payments.

Your card or device must be within 4 cm of the Contactless Symbol
on the terminal.

The Visa contactless transaction limit is up to AED 300. As Visa contactless payments are designed to offer cardholders speed and convenience, you do not need to enter a PIN for transactions under this amount. For higher value transactions, you can use a Visa contactless card or payment-enabled mobile device with a PIN. If you are transacting with a mobile device using an authentication method such as your fingerprint or face, you might not have to enter a PIN even for transactions over AED 300.

First, add your Visa card to the mobile payment app in your smartphone. At checkout, you need to complete the steps provided to activate the app, and then simply hold your mobile device over the terminal for fast, secure payments.
